At the beginning of the year, the two 160-meter contests take place. The CW Contest is always held on the last weekend in January, and the SSB Contest on the last weekend in February.I took part in both of them.

CQ 160-meter CW contest.

In the meantime, I have put up a long-wire antenna for the lower bands again. However, I am not yet satisfied with the results of this antenna. Something still needs to be done.

Here is the result:

Band QSOs Pts StP DXCC
1,8 115 509 0 26

Score : 13.234

As usual, here is the map showing the distribution of QSOs. It is noticeable that there are almost no connections in the southwestern direction. I can only speculate as to why this is the case. I believe that the gap has arisen because the house is located in that direction.

CQ 160-meter SSB contest.

I also took part in the 160-meter SSB contest. I tried to optimize the antenna once again, but with only moderate success. I set up another small auxiliary mast and ran the antenna over it. Unfortunately, this did not yield as much as I had hoped.

Here is the result:

Band QSOs Pts StP DXCC
1,8 33 129 0 14

Score : 1806

Here again is the map showing the QSOs made. Just like in the CW section, there is a gap in the distribution of countries. It is in the same place as in the CW section.

So, the year 2025 is history. Let´s make some statistics:

In the year 2025 i made 1943 QSO on shortwave and VHF / UHF from my home QTH. So about 150 QSO less than 2024.

Band Number of QSO´s DXCC

0,23 6 1

Distribution of modes over all bands:

CW 693 (65 DXCC)

SSB 359 (60 DXCC)

FM 0 (Several QSO on our club Frequenzy but not in any log)

FT4 3

FT8 618 (107 DXCC in Data. I guess most are in FT8)

RTTY 270

SSTV 0

DSTAR 0

According to my Clublog statistics i worked 122 different DXCC Entities

Since the beginning of spring, I had been unable to work on the lower bands because my long-wire antenna had broken and fallen down. However, because the trees already had leaves, I was unable to set up a new antenna. I was only able to do so again in the fall after the leaves had fallen. I am still not happy with the height of the antenna and will have to readjust it again.

In the meantime i played a little bit and made a QSO map of alls QSO i took in 2025:

The CQ WW CW contest took place last weekend. Since this is one of my favorite contests, I naturally took part. I chose “Classic” as my participant class. Classic means that you can only participate for 24 hours of the maximum 48 hours and the use of any aids (internet clusters, etc.) is prohibited. My output power was 100 watts.

Here are my results:

I heard from various sources that conditions were so good in the contest. I can’t really confirm that. Not a single QSO with South America, hardly any with Southeast Asia, no QSOs with JA or VK. QSOs with the Midwest are also missing this year. So I didn’t find the conditions to be that good.

Last weekend, I took part in the WAE RTTY contest, as I have done for many years now. It’s always fun to take part in this contest, even though my 100 watts of output power is no match for the high-power stations. My very first QSO in the contest was with a station in Australia on 10 meters.

In the meantime, I have also built a new antenna for 40 and 80 meters after the old antenna fell down in the spring and I was unable to transmit on these bands for the entire year. However, there is still room for improvement here. It works quite well on 80 meters, but there are still significant deficits on 40 meters. This is also noticeable in the results:

Band Q/QTC QSOs Pts Mlt
3,5 QSO 29 29 52
7 QSO 4 4 12

I recently took part in two contests. First, on the last weekend in October, I participated in the CW WW SSB Contest, and then the following weekend I took part in the 2 Meter Marconi Memorial Contest.
Here are my results:

CQ WW SSB Contest:

I must admit that SSB is not my preferred mode of operation. With 100 watts of output power, my chances are too slim:

Band QSOs Pts ZN Cty
1,8 2 1 2 2
3,5 17 17 5 11
7 1 1 1 1
14 33 51 9 24
21 40 75 9 21
28 37 74 13 24
Total 130 219 39 83

Score : 26.718

As usual the QSO Map:

144 MHz CW Marconi memorial Contest

This year, I had difficulty getting QRV on 2 meters because the 10-element antenna (once again) wasn’t working. That’s why I installed a 4-element Yagi fixed just near the skylight window. I could only turn it by hand, so it pointed west on Saturday and east on Sunday. Under these circumstances, I am more than satisfied with my result.

i reached 6053 points with an everage of 242 km. My ODX was OL2M with 540 km. 3 DXCC countrys and 15 squares.

The QSO map:

There is a clear preference for the east. However, this is probably also due to the fact that the antenna was pointing eastward for the entire Sunday.

The antenna setup:

In the meantime the results are published: I ended up rank 212 out of 284. So i guess thats not too bad with my limited setup.

Last weekend, it was that time again: the WAG Contest was on the calendar. For us stations from DL it is interesting in that only German stations are allowed to be worked by all other stations. Finally, you are interesting to everyone!

I participated in the QRP category. Here, only an output power of 5 watts is permitted.

Here are my results:

Band QSOs Pts DXCC
3,5 4 4 1
7 28 54 9
28 5 17 4

Total 73 195 38

Score : 7.410

After quite some time, I finally managed to work a new QRP DXCC country. This is only of statistical value, however, because there are no endorsements in QRP DXCC. I already reached the required 100 QRP countries quite some time ago.

Here, as usual, is the map with my QSO´s:

I participated in a couple of contests again over the past two weekends. One was the CQ Worldwide RTTY Contest and the other was the VHF UHF Contest.

CQ World Wide RTTY Contest:

The CQ WW RTTY contest always takes place on the last full weekend in September. Since this is one of my favorite contests, I naturally took part. Unfortunately, I am still limited in terms of antennas since my antenna for the lower bands fell down in the spring.

Here are my results:

Band QSOs Pts Zones Contries
3,5 3 5 2 3
Total 90 232 33 50

Score : 25.520

Region 1 UHF SHF Contest:

Last weekend, the Region 1 UHF SHF Contest took place. I participated on 70 cm and 23 cm. Unfortunately, conditions were not so good on Saturday, and on Sunday afternoon, when there is usually a lot of activity, I had another appointment.

Nevertheless, I managed to make 19 QSOs with 3402 QSo pioints. The Km average was 179 km and the ODX 641 km (G3M) on 70 cm.

On 23 cm i had only 1 QSO with 167 km.

The QSO map also shows the usual gap from northwest to east. I see this gap in every contest, but I have no explanation for it.
