Activation of POTA DA – 0155 Ostpark Frankfurt

I activated Ostpark Frankfurt (POTA DA – 0155) last Saturday.

Mostly i wanted to find out if the evolution of my outdoor rig is doing OK. And i didn´t activate a park in 2021 till then. It also was a first time activation of DA – 0155, Ostpark.

I bought a bigger toolbox with wheels wich was on sale the other week and so the whole outdoor Ham Radio gear moved to that toolbox in the meantime. Maybe i write an extra article on this subject.

I used the ICOM IC – 705 and my 11″ Notebook. On Friday B4 the activation i tested the combination Notebook and IC – 705 in the mode FT8 at home in the shack  and it was running wihtout any error. But in the park i saw the FT8 signals coming in but had no output at all. And i don´t know why. I have to test it again at home.

So i made a couble of CW QSO´s to get a valid activation of the park.

Rig used: ICOM IC – 705 with 10 watts output, a Eremit LiFePo4 battery with 6 Ah the Medion 11″ Note book a Palm Radio Mini paddle and my old G Whip antenna on the roof of my car. There was no chance to use another antenna because the park was so crowded this Saturday.

So the „Take home message“ of the last activation: never be too shure that what was working at home is also working in the field.
