About me
Short introduction
Just to learn to know me I will give you some short facts about me.
I started amateur radio with the age of 14 in 1970. I was building a little short-wave receiver out of a kit from Radio Rim in Munich, witch, of course, did not work from the beginning. So I met the father of a schoolfriend of mine, who happened to be Theo, DJ1RL. We managed to get the little receiver working and I started to listen to Ham radio transmissions with the little kit and also in Theo´s shack. I was fascinated right from the beginning and so it happened that Theo became my teacher and Elmer (mentor). At that time the age to ask for a Ham Radio license in Western Germany was 18 and so I got my first license in 1974 with the age of 18. The callsign DC6ZF was issued on November 9th 1974 to me to work on all VHF and UHF bands .
After operating mostly on 144 and 432 MHz for 8 years I managed to upgrade to my short-wave license in 1982 after learning CW (morse code). The callsign DL8ZAJ was issued to me in February of 1982.
Since this time I operate on all short-wave bands mostly in CW and RTTY but also do communication on 144, 432 and 1296 MHz and 10 GHz in SSB and CW.
Theo, DJ1RL became silent key September 5th 2008 at the age of 80. I will miss him and his signal on the air.
I am a member of the following ham Radio clubs:
I even found my first membership card dated 1973:
